Raayan

Image
Raayan  is a gripping tale reminiscent of the classic film  Hum , where the elder brother goes to great lengths to protect his siblings. However, this story is packed with multiple twists that keep you hooked throughout. The screenplay is tight and engaging, constantly shifting gears with unexpected turns. Though the narrative is compelling, the excessive violence might feel overwhelming at times, detracting from the emotional core. Despite this,  Raayan  may be a watch for those who enjoy intense family dramas layered with some twists and of course violence.   Streaming Partner – PrimeVideo Director – Dhanush Release Year – Aug 2024 #PrimeVideo #Dhanush #Raayan

IC 814:The Kandahar Hijack

Image
IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack  impressively recreates one of India’s most dramatic hijacking episodes with an ensemble cast. It’s a challenge to depict events from 25 years ago, but the series manages it well with a tight screenplay and sharp direction, keeping viewers on the edge. The documentary covers the political negotiations, emotional turmoil of the hostages, and the decisions that led to the release of terrorists. Though it sometimes lacks depth in diplomatic details, it’s a compelling watch for history and thriller enthusiasts alike.   Streaming Partner – Netflix Director – Anubhav Sinha Season 1 | Episode – 6 Release Year – Aug 2024

Angry Young Men

Image
A must-watch three-episode docu-series on Salim-Javed, famously known as the Angry Young Men. This series offers a compelling narrative of two men who co-wrote some of Hindi cinema’s most iconic blockbusters. While much of the content might be familiar, it’s a nostalgic ride. It would have been great to explore more about their storytelling philosophy and reasons for their split. A second season scripted by them would be a treat, as the quality of output always hinges on the input. Chandu Champion

Chandu Champion is a must-watch for sports fans and those who appreciate stories of personal triumph. Based on the real-life journey of Chandrakant Patil, the film portrays his struggles and victories with sincerity, making it relatable and impactful. Kabir Khan’s direction is a highlight, blending realism with cinematic flair and skilfully capturing the emotional highs and lows. Kartik Aryan delivers an authentic and intense performance as Chandu, bringing depth to the role, considering his previous roles. The film's heartwarming narrative and motivational message make it engaging and inspiring. Director - Kabir Khan Cast - Kartik  Aryan, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav

Phir Aayi Haseen Dilruba

The sequel to Haseen Dillruba had potential but falls short due to a lacklustre script and uneven execution. Despite moments of intrigue, good performances and good cinematography, the film struggles with a disjointed narrative and poor pacing, making the plot feel both sluggish and rushed. The characters, especially the secondary ones, are underdeveloped, and the suspense never quite delivers. While fans of the first film might find some enjoyable elements, overall, it doesn't live up to its predecessor or the expectations of its genre, making it a mixed bag. Date of Release - 09/08/2024 Director - Jayprasad Desai Cast - Sunny Kaushla, Taapsee Pannu, Vikrant Messy, Jimmy Shergill #Netflix #bollywoodmovies

The direction and cinematography heighten the tension, though the pace of the movie is uneven Overall, it is good watch for fans of intelligent thrillers that offer both suspense and substance, ignoring a few points.
