Bhooth Bangla Review – A Nostalgic First Half, But a Confused Second Half

Intro: Bhooth Bangla is a 2026 Hindi comedy horror film directed by Priyadarshan, starring Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav, Tabu, Jisshu Sengupta, and Wamiqa Gabbi. The film brings together a familiar mix of horror, comedy, and chaos, attempting to recreate the old-school Priyadarshan style. Currently running in cinemas, the film tries to balance spooky elements with humour and ensemble performances.

Review (90 Words): I was expecting the old Priyadarshan magic with Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, and Rajpal Yadav, but I was only partially satisfied. The first half is fair and has good comic timing that will make you laugh. The performances work well initially, though Wamiqa Gabbi feels underused. However, the second half feels like a completely different film, with the story going too much into imagination and losing direction. Overall, it becomes uneven. If you are really keen, you can watch it later on OTT rather than in theatres.

Review (360 Words): Bhooth Bangla comes with a lot of expectations, especially because it brings back the combination of Priyadarshan and actors like Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal. Naturally, you expect the same magic that worked so well in earlier comedy films. Unfortunately, the film only delivers that feeling in parts.

The first half works reasonably well. The comic timing is good, and there are moments that genuinely make you laugh. The ensemble cast plays along nicely, and you can see glimpses of the familiar chaotic humour that Priyadarshan is known for. This portion of the film feels engaging and sets up expectations for an entertaining ride.

However, the film loses its grip in the second half. The story becomes scattered and moves in a direction that feels disconnected from what was set up earlier. It almost feels like you are watching a different film altogether. The narrative starts relying too much on unrealistic elements without building a strong base, which affects the overall flow.

The writing also becomes inconsistent. Scenes appear loosely connected, and the humour loses its sharpness. The horror element, instead of adding tension, feels more like a background idea that doesn’t fully develop. The climax stretches longer than needed, making the second half feel slow and less impactful.

In terms of performances, the main cast does a fair job. Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal bring their usual presence, while Rajpal Yadav adds some comic moments. However, Wamiqa Gabbi feels underutilised, which is disappointing given her potential. Overall, Bhooth Bangla works only in parts. It starts as a fun entertainer but gradually becomes uneven.
