The Runner Review – Always Running, But Never Quite Gets There

Intro: The Runner is a 2026 British action thriller directed by Kevin Macdonald, starring Gal Gadot, Damian Lewis and Alfred Enoch. The film follows a London-based prosecutor who is forced into a race against time when her son is abducted. It is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.

Review (90 Words): I watched The Runner immediately after Gandhari, and both have a somewhat similar basic idea. This one works marginally better for me. The concept is still interesting, and at least the film keeps moving — almost literally from one twist to another. But I felt that revealing a little more along the way could have made the story easier to connect with. The biggest issue is the characters. We don't really get enough time to understand them beyond what the plot needs. It is short, fast and watchable, but don't expect much depth.
