Bougainvillea: A Thriller That Almost Blooms

 

Amal Neerad’s Bougainvillea is a psychological thriller with a gripping premise that falters in execution. Inspired by Lajo Jose’s novel Ruthinte Lokam, the story builds intrigue around Reethu’s amnesia and an investigation into missing girls. While Kunchacko Boban and Jyothirmayi deliver strong performances, Fahadh Faasil is underutilized. The first half captivates, but the second half feels dragged, with a climax that loses its edge due to predictability. Despite moments of brilliance, the film misses its chance to be a truly impactful thriller.
